We buy plain ready-to-bake Trader Joe's dough, we've tried the other kinds and like this one best. The husband has spent countless nights perfecting his pizza making skills, he loves to add the thick crust. Oh, and don't forget to "fork" the dough all over so it won't rise like a load of bread! Cook the dough for about 10-15 minutes then take it out and add your sauce, toppings and cheese and put it back in until the cheese is melted, about another 10-15 minutes. This will give you a nice crunchy edge.
Now, you can get ambitious and make your own sauce or try the marinara from T.J. If you don't have a Trader Joe's in your area I'm sure your local grocery store has pre-made pizza dough and sauce.
Now it's on to toppings!! We love spicy Italian sausage. Buy it raw and sear it in a pan yourself, it will have so much more flavor then the precooked stuff. This time we did mushrooms and onions but really it's up to you.
Please take note of "the great divide." This is to ensure that no one has to eat someone else's cheese. If you live with or are a person who does not eat dairy/lactose this is a critical strep in pizza making.
Thanks to Pecorino Ramano I can pile on the cheesy goodness to my hearts content and feel like I'm really eating pizza again. As you can see my husband is also piling on the mozzarella a more traditional choice. Either way pizza is always delicious so make some and enjoy!
